Veteran Benefits

Veteran Benefits Office

The Veteran Benefits Office (VBO) processes U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits for dependents, veterans, reservists, National Guard, and Active-Duty members.

Benefits Eligibility

Eligibility for education benefits is determined solely by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). There are multiple VA education benefits military-connected students may use to further their education and career goals. Before you apply, be sure to understand the different benefits you may be eligible for and which benefit(s) you would like to use.

To compare the different educational benefits and determine which one is best for you, please view the GI Bill® Comparison Tool. For active-duty service members, please contact your Education Service Officer (ESO) or Counselor within your military department for information on using Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits prior to enrolling into UC Irvine. Your ESO/Counselor is usually located at your installation Education Center. For assistance in locating your ESO/Counselor, please contact the Veteran Benefits Office (VBO) at veteran@uci.edu or (949) 824-3500.

After you have decided which benefit you want to use or qualify for, apply online or, if you are on active duty, apply through your installation Education Center.

Note: It may take six (6) to eight (8) weeks for the VA to process your application.
